Treuchtlingen Miniaturland model railway

This model railway has been featured on TV and radio programs and is an experience for all the family to enjoy – not just model railway enthusiasts.

The Treuchtlingen Miniaturland model railway is a fantasy world built on a 1:87 scale, with many lovingly recreated details from the Altmühl Valley and the whole of Germany. Model railway enthusiasts and their children can discover our little Germany over a surface area of 250 square metres.

The set has a complete operable train set of 218 wagons, ranging from old steam locomotives with real steam to the Orient Express and the modern ICE high-speed trains.

There are farms, a market garden, quarries, a coal mine, mountains with cable cars, a vineyard, a zoo, a fairground and lots of other working equipment. Everything has been lovingly created with an eye for detail – for example, in a large quarry and gravel mill, two dinosaur fossils are being very carefully excavated by archaeologists, a funeral is taking place in the graveyard of an abbey and lots of rides are going on at the fairground. Will you be able to find the couple of lovebirds behind the cliffs?

A transport system with cars steered automatically, trams and an airfield –still in the planning stages – all bring the model to life, as the landscape is still a work in progress.

A play area for children and a permanent exhibition of various Märklin construction sets and trains throughout the ages make this a great place to visit for young and old alike.
